Welcome Back!
Student Government is an organization of elected and interviewed officers representing the student body and each individual class. Our main objective is to create a better school environment where each and every student can enjoy their high school career. We promote healthy and competitive spirit by encouraging students to participate in Spirit Weeks and attend school events. With our leadership, we not only hope to set an example for students but make a positive impression on the community. Our theme for this year is "This is your school. Catch the pride." We hope student will take pride in their school and realize that their high school experience will be what they make out of it. Creating a better place to learn and have fun is not a one-man job but rather a community effort on part of both students and staff. We strongly encourage each student to know and be familiar with their class officers and feel free to approach them with any concerns, questions, or ideas. Remember: we're here for you! So get out there and make this the best year yet. Support our teams, concerts, and clubs. Get involved and make a difference. This is your school. What will you make out of it?
Every Fifteen Minutes
Every Fifteen Minutes (EFM) is a nationwide program based off of the statistic that every 15 minutes someone in the U.S. dies in a drunk driving accident. The first day of this two day program stages a drunk driving accident at the school with actual South students complete with 911 calls, ambulances, police cars, sobriety test, body identifications, etc. The second day includes a memorial service for the students that "died" in the accident. This program shows the reality of drunk driving: that it does happen and we don't want it to happen here. Students and parents are invited to an informational meeting on September 15 at 7 p.m. in the Auditeria.
